Bookmark for Friendship

This is my other bookmark for the swap this month. I have named it Friendship. The background is painted watercolour paper. I then layered painted fabric and ribbon on top, machine sewing them onto the paper. Braiding was machined onto sides and hearts and flowers glued on. The tassel is twisted knitting ribbon with a heart charm threaded on. As she will have guessed from the name this bookmark will be on its way to my swap partner http://alis-clair.blogspot.com/ very soon. It is named Friendship in honour of my long lasting and wonderful friendship with Ali. I have known Ali for more years than we care to say and there are no words that can express the gratitude I have for her friendship and support over the years. I hope this bookmark will remind her of that friendship and the colours of the beach and sea that give her so much inspiration. Thank you Ali.

Bookmark Swap 'Sunset'

Here is the first bookmark for the swap with other members of Unlimited Textiles for May. I made it by layering organza, chiffon and silk paper onto iron on vilene then machine stitching all over. Threads and handmade cords were machined down the middle of the bookmark. Beads were added and a handmade cord was sewn around the edges.

Flutter By Butterfly

After abandoning making the fabric flowers Fiona (future daughter in law and all round lovely person) persuaded me to use the petals I had made and make a butterfly. Here is the result. I am quite pleased with the result. Lucy has decided to use it in one of her scrapbooks.

Socks For Lucy

I am knitting a pair of socks for Lucy at the moment. I am so thrilled at the way the yarn colour and pattern has turned out that I had to let you see a photo of the first sock. Lucy is modelling the sock of course! The sock yarn is called Crazy by Opal Yarns from http://www.angelyarns.com/ This sock knitting could become addictive am now going to browse for more yarn for next pair of socks!

Another Quiltie

This is the last of the quilities with the India theme. I loved working with these colours - quite a change for me - a bit brighter than usual. Am now going to concentrate on the fabric flower swap. Finding them a bit of a challenge as they are not very inspiring. Will post pictures soon.

Quiltie

Well here is my first quiltie. This is for a swap I am involved in with other members of Unlimited Textiles. The theme for this month is India. I think I could really get into making these quilties. I am starting work on my next one under the theme India. Thanks to Ali for suggesting this swap.
